Second place Inside Our Schools project group.
RegionThis year, I am competing in 2 events: STEM Lesson Planning and Inside our Schools.I did not advance to state in lesson plan, but my group project of Inside our Schools with Meredith and Shannon got first at Region, so we will be going to State in Lubbock. For STEM Lesson Plan, I recorded a conversion lesson between the meteoric and customary systems. Inside our Schools was a video showing our favorite teaching strategy, which was based on Paper Slides. Tech Time I help out with our TAFE chapter service project every monday afternoon at The Atria, an assisted living facility. Four other students and myself teach a weekly class known as Tech Time for any residents that would like to come. We take our iPads for people to use, but most have technology that they need specific help on. So far, we have gone over downloading APPS, creating and using Facebook, text messages, emails, selfies, and much more. We have been going since October and plan on continuing the class through the summer and next year. Even though I do not hold a leadership position in my class, being a part of the weekly service project, gives me a leadership opportunity to take on.
In the photo above, residents at the assisted living facility are learning about technology. State I participated in Bulletin Board and Education Leadership Fundamentalist Test at state. In Bulletin Board, my group mates Abby, Meredith, and I created a board titles, Conversion Cart for a 6th grade math class. The topic it covers is converting fractions to decimals. Our board is a colorful tool to use in a classroom and highlights three common multiple intelligences (visual, kinesthetic, auditory). Our interactive board is a fun way for students to practice conversions. I presented the board at state and we received a blue ribbon.
Below is a picture of Abby, Meredith, and myself after we received our blue ribbon. In the Education Leadership Fundamentalist Test, otherwise known as the ELF test, fifty questions are chosen in multiple choice form for use to answer ranging from theorist to the history of education. I scored 100% on the test, so I got to advance to the essay portion which began the next morning. Everybody that received a perfect score on the test, got the same essay prompt and thirty minutes to write an essay. The essays were then judged by english teachers and the top five essays received awards. I ended up placing fourth in the essay.
Below is a picture of myself and two other participants that placed in the top five on the ELF test essay
Region I participated in Bulletin Board and Education Leadership Fundamentalist at region.
I advanced in both Bulletin Board and ELF test by earning a 90% or higher. I also assisted my chapter in teaching the break out lesson that focuses on using creative activities in the classroom.
Below is a picture of myself walking across the stage after announcing ELF test advancements.
